Sony acquires developer Valkyrie Entertainment

Sony’s own efforts are reinforced today with the acquisition of Seattle-based developer Valkyrie Entertainment. Since 2002, Valkyrie has worked on over 100 games, often acting as a co-developer or content creator. PlayStation Studios head Hermen Hulst said in a tweet that Valkyrie “will make a valuable contribution to the major PlayStation Studios franchise.”

Valkyrie has worked with Sony several times in the past to help bring Infamous, God of War and Twisted Metal to market. Developers will once again work with Sony Santa Monica on God of War: Ragnarok.

In a press release released earlier today, a Sony spokesperson outlined the road ahead. “After the acquisition, day-to-day operations will continue to be run by Valkyrie Entertainment’s current management. The terms of this transaction, including acquisition costs, are not disclosed due to contractual commitments.”

Valkyrie has great reasons to celebrate with the acquisition. It’s a fantastic sequel that we’ve rated 9.25 out of 10 because it was one of the studios that was involved in making Halo Infinite. Other games with a touch of Valkyrie include: image above.

Sony and Microsoft have been in a bit of an arms race over the past few years, attracting developers to expand their respective game development efforts.
