We're excited to share this journey with you and are working to make this the best experience possible for the entire Fortnite community.
For now, this change should not be significant. Playing today is Fortnite. However, with Unreal Engine 5, we’ll see huge graphics improvements in Battle Royale someday. Additionally, other significant technical changes may be made to Fortnite as Epic developers learn the upgraded engine.
If Unreal Engine 5 sounds unfamiliar, you might be more familiar with the amazing PlayStation 5 live demo that ran using it last year. You can watch it below.
In theory, Fortnite could one day look as good as its demo. Of course, Fortnite has its own art style, so it might not look like that demo, but it serves as a showcase for what developers can do with Unreal Engine 5 and if that’s just a taste, I’m very excited to see what Epic will show you. The game is related to battle royale.
If you particularly like that demo, you can purchase a Fortnite skin for the character shown in that demo. We can all get a taste of Unreal Engine 5 tomorrow, thanks to the upcoming Matrix Awakens experience, now preloadable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. If you don’t own one of those consoles, sweat it. More information on this will be revealed tomorrow at the Game Awards Show.
