Fall Guys will be free to play on Xbox and Switch next month

Fall Guys, the popular obstacle course-based multiplayer game, will be available for free on June 21st.

Mediatonic, the creators of Fall Guys, announced this today in a special live stream for the game. June 21st will also see the release of Season 1 and the long-awaited release of Fall Guys on the Xbox platform, Switch, and the Epic Games Store.

In fact, Mediatonic says PS4 players will need to download the new version of the game currently available to prepare for the transition to free-to-play. All existing cosmetics and crowns will be transferred. When the Xbox version of the game is released, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to access the first of three appearances they will receive with Ultimate Perks. The second cosmetic falls in the second month, and the third in the third month.

Elsewhere in the stream, Mediatonic said the game from Season 1 will add new levels and obstacles to the game, including new challenges, decorative elements, and more. Those of you who already own Fall Guys, whether through purchase or when they release on PlayStation Plus, get three outfits, the first free preview of the Season 1 Pass, and more. Log in to Fall Guys before June 21st to access the Legacy Pack.

As you might expect Fall Guys to be free to play, there is a free season pass and a premium season pass. The free pass includes some cosmetics and more, but if you’re looking for the most elusive items, you’ll probably need a premium pass. Due to this new change, you can no longer use Crowns to purchase items in Fall Guys. Instead, Crowns level up the Season Pass and transfer to Kudos, Fall Guys’ in-game currency.

The stream ended with “one more thing”, just a joke that the level creators were working on it. As for when it will appear in the game, it is still unknown.
