EA, Remove Russian Teams from NHL 22 and FIFA 22
The giants of the video game world are responding to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and removing sports teams from the invading countries from the game. The move is an act of solidarity with other organizations seeking to condemn recent military actions. Specifically, in a pair of tweets, EA announced that it would remove Russian and Belarusian teams from the latest versions of its popular sports franchises FIFA and NHL 22.

Following in the footsteps of the real sports organizations FIFA, UEFA and IIHF and following the suspension of the Russian and Belarus national teams and clubs, EA will be removing these teams from the game in the next few days and weeks. In the Twitter announcement, “EA Sports, together with FIFA and its partners in UEFA, have begun the process of removing the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from EA Sports FIFA products, including FIFA 22, FIFA Mobile and FIFA Online. We also have other areas of the game We are actively evaluating any relevant changes to .” The same goes for the hockey franchise NHL 22, which consists of teams representing Russia and Belarus.

EA Sports read the announcement from the FIFA account with similar sentiment shared on the EA Sports NHL account. . Team removal is expected to begin in the coming weeks. EA has stated that additional updates to the issue will be provided as they become available.
