DNF Dual Open Beta starts late today
The new fighting game DNF Duel, based on Neople’s fighting game DNF Duel, is starting its first beta test late today. The beta, announced on Sunday in the trailer below, features 10 characters from the roster, all based on classes available in Dungeon Fighter Online.
Why should you be interested in a fighting game based on a Korean MMO you’ve never heard of or played? DNF Duel is being developed in collaboration between Arc System Works, also known as Guilty Gear and Dragon Ball Fighterz, and Eighting, the venerable development team that created fighting games such as Marvel Vs Capcom 3 and Bloody Roar. DNF Duel’s pedigree is legit, and the characters in the trailers that have been released over the past few weeks look like they’ll be really fun to fight.
The characters in DNF Duel are named after their class prototype, not their actual background. The 10 classes of DNF you can try this weekend are Berserker, Ranger, Grappler, Striker, Hitman, Inquisitor, Dragon Knight, Kunoichi, Crusader, and Vanguard.
Little has been said about the DNF Duel since its announcement in December, and it was almost on the go until the torrent’s character trailer was released a few weeks ago. Now that all 10 fighters have been revealed for this weekend’s beta, we’ll finally see what the DNF looks like in action. Regarding the online features that will be highlighted and tested this weekend, DNF Duel will implement a rollback netcode for smooth remote gameplay.
Testing is for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 only and starts at 6pm. It’s happening tonight in the Pacific and runs until December 20th at 6am. Since this test coincides with the second beta test for King of Fighters XV that you can read here, there won’t be any fighting game fans wanting to play the new game this weekend.
DNF Duel has no release date and is currently in development for PS5, PS4 and PC.
