Disney and Tencent announced that a mobile avatar MMO is in the works
Ubisoft isn’t the only publisher to get their hands on the Avatar franchise. This weekend Disney and Tencent revealed plans for the release of the MMO role-playing shooter Avatar: Reckoning for iOS and Android. The development of Reckoning is handled by Archosaur Games.
The press release announcing the title gives us information on what to expect. “Avatar: Reckoning will take players to never-before-seen places on Pandora, where they will meet new tribes of butterflies fighting to defend their homeland, battle powerful RDA armies seeking to exploit the moon’s resources, and encounter wonderful alien creatures. . “ Players can challenge themselves in solo, co-op or ‘dynamic multiplayer matches’. The story mode experience will help you level up and equip Na’vi with weapons.
Avatar: Reckoning is in development on Unreal Engine 4 and is expected to release sometime this year.
Another adventure that takes place in James Cameron’s Pandora is Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, developed by Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment. Last summer’s debut trailer using the Snowdrop engine that powers The Division 2 is amazing. Check out the video to see how Ubi is translating the movie franchise to consoles and PCs.
