Capcom's Exoprimal Offers a World at a Dinosaur Crisis

With a dinosaur weather forecast and an exosuit-clad warrior taking amazing steps, Exoprimal looks wild. This new IP from Capcom was announced this afternoon at Sony’s State of Play presentation, along with a trailer showing off characters and gameplay hints.

According to the debut video, ExoPrimal is set in the year 2043, an era of news that predicts when a torrent of dinosaurs will pour into society. To counter the overwhelming prehistoric threat, an organization known as the Aibius Corporation and a powerful AI named Leviathan can predict when dinosaurs will appear and have developed advanced exosuit technology that allows soldiers to fight beasts.

Exoprimal is a multiplayer experience with co-op gameplay at its core. The default mode of the game is called Dino Survival and involves two teams of five players competing against each other to complete an objective while attempting to stop the raptors. Tasks completed in matches include cargo deliveries or, as Capcom puts it, “a desperate last resort against harsh attacks.” Although the game focuses on multiplayer, the narrative is woven throughout and you can learn about “the deep history of the world and its colorful characters” as the mystery of the dinosaur outbreak is unraveled.

Various exosuits play a role on the battlefield, such as melee attackers like Zephyr and the Witchdoctor Medic, tanks like Roadblock, and shooting models like Deadeye. There’s also the trepidation that players can quit a suit during combat and switch to another suit.

Capcom’s Exoprimal will launch in 2023 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Sony faces potential class action lawsuits alleging sexism, sexism, and prejudice against female employees within its US offices. Currently, nine women (some former and some current employees) have shared their Sony PlayStation experience in court documents. The lawsuit was first filed in 2021, and in February 2022 Sony asked the court to dismiss it. A hearing on the request is expected in April 2022. You can read the previous range here.
