Call of Duty: Warzone mobile version in development

It’s important to keep in mind what’s going on within Activision Blizzard right now with regards to the ongoing assertion of workplace culture. The ongoing action against the company by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) is a reported harmful workplace culture action. Most of the lawsuits focus on “violations of national citizenship and equal pay laws,” especially regarding the treatment of women and other marginalized groups. If you would like to learn more about the proceeding so far, including the details listed in the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, please see the previous scope here.

Activision Blizzard is bringing Call of Duty: Warzone, a free-to-play battle royale game, to mobile devices in the future.

The news comes via a new Call of Duty blog post advertising several positions currently available within the team developing a mobile version of Warzone. This differs from Call of Duty Mobile, a massively successful game that essentially replicates the standard Call of Duty multiplayer experience for mobile devices in that it becomes a “AAA mobile” battle royale experience.

The blog post states, “We’re creating an all-new AAA mobile experience that will bring the thrilling, flexible and massive action of Call of Duty: Warzone to players on the go.” “Join a growing, award-winning team of mobile veterans and emerging talent on this ambitious mission. We are looking for operators capable of all aspects of game development. This massive battle royale experience is being built natively for mobile with cutting-edge technology designed to delight gamers around the world for years to come.”

Some of the jobs that help us “give the next generation of mobile gaming experiences to our fans” include roles in engineering, design, art, marketing, and more. Based on the blog post, the teams linked to this project include Call of Duty, Digital Legends Entertainment, Beenox, Activision Shanghai Studio, Solid State Studios, Activision Central Tech, and Demonware.
