Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Official Confirmation

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Official Confirmation

Activision Blizzard has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the next title in the franchise.

No one came as a surprise, especially considering that the company previously announced that this year’s Call of Duty would be the sequel to 2019’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare reboot. A new teaser posted on Twitter today revealed the title as well as the logo for the sequel.

It’s important to keep in mind what’s going on within Activision Blizzard right now with regards to the ongoing assertion of workplace culture. The ongoing action against the company by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) is a reported harmful workplace culture action. Most of the lawsuits focus on “violations of national citizenship and equal pay laws,” especially regarding the treatment of women and other marginalized groups. If you would like to learn more about the proceeding so far, including the details listed in the lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, please see the previous scope here.

You can check it out below.

As you can see, there really isn’t much to gain. It sounds very Modern Warfare-y and looks very Modern Warfare-y, but it doesn’t reveal much about the actual game. Perhaps something can be created with the muffled voices playing during the trailer, but this teaser is most likely setting the stage for a bigger reveal in the coming weeks or months. The Call of Duty account, which tweeted the teaser, states, “A new era of Call of Duty is coming,” so the company believes the game will shake up the franchise significantly.

It’s not surprising, as Infinity Ward’s 2019 Modern Warfare reboot did that when it launched a few months before the series, especially Call of Duty: Warzone. Also, 2019’s Modern Warfare is still considered by many to be the best Call of Duty in recent years. With Infinity Ward working on Modern Warfare II, fans will be excited to see what this sequel will look like. Sadly we don’t know when our next look will be, but if it’s like Call of Duty has been revealed in the past few years, it could be weeks or days. Only time will tell.
